BEST OF THE LOFOTEN ISLANDS

SIGHTSEEING TOUR FROM LEKNES TO REINE

Leknes is a practical place to stay — right in the middle of Lofoten, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the airport. But coming to Lofoten and not taking a trip to Reine and Å is like ordering a pizza and only eating the crust —you’d be missing the best part.

Reine, Sakrisøy and Hamnøy are the true gems of Lofoten—the places you’ve probably seen all over Instagram or on the covers of travel brochures. And trust us, these iconic fishing villages are even more breathtaking in real life.

So, what are you waiting for? Join us for a relaxed, small-group road trip from Leknes to Reine and western Lofoten.

ABOUT GUIDE TO LOFOTEN

We’re an international couple with a unique blend of perspectives—Ivar, a Norwegian, can offer the local’s take on everything. At the same time, Radka, originally from the Czech Republic, knows exactly what catches the eye of visitors and can share interesting insights.

We usually guide these tours together, with Radka leading the storytelling and Ivar behind the wheel. That way, we can even tackle those spots where parking is usually a hassle.

With us, your Lofoten adventure is all about what matters to you—no stress, just a relaxed, fun exploration of our beautiful Lofoten islands.

A SIGHTSEEING TOUR TO REINE: WHAT TO EXPECT

While we can’t tell you all of our stories in advance (so you’ll have something to look forward to), it’s only fair to give you an idea of what to expect from the trip.

The truth is, each of our trips is a bit different, as we play along with the weather (there’s no point stopping at the Fredvang Bridges viewpoint if all you can see is thick fog) and cater to the group’s interests.

How is it to live in the Lofoten Islands?

Now, for those of you curious about Lofoten’s culture and history:

We’re not guides who recite memorized scripts filled with place names and dates. Don’t get us wrong—we’ll share stories about Lofoten’s culture and history and how these remote, weather-beaten islands helped shape Norway into what it is today through its fishing traditions.

But we also love talking about what life here is like now. We’ll share the joys and challenges of living in such a remote area: what people do for a living nowadays, how tourism has transformed the islands, and how locals deal with the stormy weather, medical emergencies, or the impacts of tourism.

You can’t go wrong choosing them!
Ivar and Radka were wonderful guides, who paid great attention to details to ensure our comfort. Even though it rained throughout most of the 3 days we were there, they ensured we were able to cover as much of the beautiful sights as possible, provided hot cocoa and biscuits on the car, as well as shoe cleats and reflectors to ensure our safety. Due to Radka’s tip, we were able to catch the northern lights right at the doorstep of our Airbnb on our last night there. You can’t go wrong choosing them!

A Wonderful Day Despite the Storm
I visited Lofoten towards the end of the summer travel season. Unfortunately, the weather was absolutely dreadful for several days, with heavy rain and strong winds, making it very difficult to explore on my own. So, I decided to join a one-day group tour. It turned out to be the best decision—I made my favourite memory of Lofoten on that tour. Ivar and Radka were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and knew plenty of stunning locations to visit. Despite the stormy weather, they took us to places where we could still enjoy the scenery. They made sure we were comfortable throughout the day, offering tea in the car and being wonderfully attentive. They even took lots of photos for us! Thanks to this fantastic experience, I am eager to visit Lofoten again. When I do, I will definitely book another tour with them.

Such a Good Guided Trip — Even in Bad Weather!”
Honestly such a good guided trip! Although the weather wasn’t great they still told us funny stories to make us laugh and make the ride enjoyable! They also totally know the places the go and are very open to our requests. Would definitely find them again next time we come!

Captivating memories with ‘Photography Tour’
We had an amazing day outing with Ivar and Radka. They picked us up in the morning and then we visited beautiful locations around west Lofoten. They know a lot of great photographic spots and views were amazing. Thanks to them, they took a lot of cool photos of us too. Hope to see you two in some summer if I manage to come back to this beautiful place. Thank you

Amazing experience with a fantastic team !
We had an amazing experience with Ivar and Radka from the Guide to Lofoten team on our recent trip to the beautiful Lofoten islands. They were knowledgeable, genuinely cared about giving us the best experience, and always made sure we felt safe. The weather was just how it is in northern Norway during winter, and I don’t think we would have managed to do justice to this beautiful place without them. We also loved the super engaging conversations about the region, Norway, life, and humanity that we had with both of them. And last but not least, I have Ivar to thank for my best food find of the trip — the Christmas brown cheese — and for some of the best photos of our entire journey.

Absolutely! However, we don’t have a child seat for small children, so we’ve set the minimum age for our tours to 6 years (we do have booster seats available).

Food is not included, but we can definitely make a stop at a restaurant, café, or food truck based on your preferences. We also provide a classic Norwegian treat—Kvikk Lunsj chocolate!

We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date, but feel free to reach out for last-minute availability—we’ll do our best to accommodate you!

We cover parking fees, but entrance fees to certain attractions (like Nusfjord fishing village, the Viking museum or Å museum) are not included in the tour price. We usually do not include these places into our “Best of Lofoten” sightseeing tour, but sometimes we need to do adjustments due to the weather and then we can opt out for visiting these places as they are a bit more indoor option.

We know that tipping is common in the US, but here in Norway, it’s a bit different. While tips are always appreciated, they’re absolutely not expected, and we won’t be insulted in any way if you choose not to tip. We’re just happy you joined us on the tour and had a great time exploring Lofoten with us!

Sadly, no, our tour is not fully wheelchair accessible. However, we’ve had elderly guests with limited mobility join us, and they managed just fine with a few adjustments.
