Apart from the football field, Henningsvær boasts some of the best climbing in Lofoten, particularly Presten – the majestic 400-meter granite massif that rises straight up from the ocean. Webcameras can be useful if you want to check what is the situation at the different ferry terminals in Lofoten. During the summer season, the ferry between Moskenes and Bodø gets often full, so if you want to secure yourself a spot, you should book a ticket in advance (for an aditional fee) or arrive to the ferry terminal well in advance to be sure that you won´t be left behind.

By clicking the pictures from the different ferry terminals, you will be redirected to the webcams from Statens Vegvesen (the Norwegian Road Administration) and you will be able to see how many cars are currently queuing for the ferry.

Check the live Web Cameras for Road & Bridges Closures

The islands in Lofoten are connected by tunnels and bridges. However, especially in winter, the weather can become harsh, and there are some bridges that become too dangerous to cross if it is too windy.

There are traffic lights before the bridges that automatically switch to red once the wind reaches dangerous levels (around 25 m/s). Therefore, during particularly stormy days, it can be impossible to travel from one island to another due to bridge closures.

When traveling in Lofoten, you need to keep an eye on the following bridges: Kåkernbrua near Reine, Gimsøybrua near Henningsvær, and Tjeldsundbrua, which you need to cross on your way from Svolvær to Evenes Airport.

For road and bridge closures keep an eye on 175.no or the vegvesen app.
